pretty in pink

On Friday I attended a ball hosted by my college at my university. It was absolutely incredible! It was held at a hotel that used to be a bank, so we were able to take pictures in what used to be the bank vault (the door was so HUGE). We had a 1920s Speakeasy theme, although lots of my friends referred to it as "The Great Gatsby Affair". Some people dressed along to the theme, but I wasn't able to find anything I liked that went along with it, so instead I wore this incredible pink dress. Back when I was in high school this would have been my ideal prom dress, but I'm really glad I got to wear it now. Unfortunately, I cannot post any photos from the actual ball because they are private photos, but here are some that I took beforehand, especially for my blog (and my grandma :)).
Enjoy!

tweedle-dee

Those of you who have been following my blog throughout the winter months probably noticed that I've been sporting the "fully buttoned up blouse" look. It's such a classy look, adding the perfect amount of "preppy" to any outfit. I've also always been rather conservative in terms of shirt/blouse necklines, so I'm quite attached to this style.
I've also lately been pondering some sort of style change but have yet to come up with anything quite new or exciting for me to wear. I feel like winter and school just don't mix well when thinking about taking fashion risks. Hopefully when the spring months hit us, I can take some risks in my personal style.

fur stopper

United Colors of Benetton coat, Guess skirt, Pegabo boots, vintage fur collar.

Vintage cashmere cardigan, Guess skirt.

The place I went to for dinner and martini's ($4 martini's on Wednesday's). It's on King Street. If you ever visit Toronto, or live here, check it out!

I wore this to go out for dinner with a friend I hadn't spent time with in a really long time. The vintage fur collar was supposed to be the perfect little touch to complete my outfit, but alas, it only made it halfway to the bus stop. I got fur all over my coat, so it had to spend the evening at the bottom of my bag. Luckily I had a lint roller, otherwise I would have been walking around looking like I rubbed a cat all over me.

I'm currently on a week long break from school. It's not really a break though because apart from some small outings I've been working to catch up with school work.

Hope everyone is having a lovely week!

jar of hearts

I really should have posted this earlier, but nonetheless, Happy Valentine's Day to all! I spent it in class and writing an essay, but my family did splurge on some yummy cake to celebrate.
I hope you enjoyed your day however you spent it.
Here are some Valentine's day themed photos!

Immense crunch time before a well deserved school break is happening right now. Here are a few photos taken over a span of about 3 months to tide you over for the next few days. (Displayed in no particular order).

Wearing a vintage dress.

Outfit post that I hated, so it was never posted. AA shorts, vintage belt and blouse, DIY bracelets.

Vintage blouse, mom's pin.

Lights at a Christmas Market in Toronto's Distillery District.

Chandelier at an incredibly fancy restaurant I went to for a Christmas Work Party.

Outfit post that never happened, but I love that coat.

see the thorn twisting

Wearing an H&M dress, unknown sweater, Silks tights, Enzo Angiolini shoes, Ray Ban Wayfarers, vintage belt, unknown necklace and top.

I've become addicted to the twilight setting on my camera. I know I'm technically not supposed to use it when it's not the twilight hour, but I think it adds such a nice warm tone to my photos, it saves me the trouble of editing, although I never bother to edit anymore anyways.
I can't remember if I was cold taking these photos, but I know I enjoyed being wrapped in this sweater. I love oversized knits during the cold months. I feel so warm and safe wrapped up in them. I'm definitely going to make use of this sweater again soon...I already have a couple outfits in mind.

Hope you're all enjoying your week so far!

Ps. I was walking down a hallway at school and my sweater billowed behind me and I felt like Professor Snape. Harry Potter moments are always good.

rouge à lèvres

When it comes to make-up I like things simple. I'm not the type of girl to go and splurge on pallets of eyeshadows and all sorts of eyeliners, creams, foundations, etc. BUT I do splurge on lipstick. Give me mascara and lipstick and I'm good to go. I'm not a fan of lipgloss, but I think lipstick is an absolutely divine beauty item. Depending on the colour, it can change the look of an outfit drastically. Here are some of my favourite lipsticks:

Chanel (Rouge Coco Shine): Aventure, Boy, Liberte

Christian Dior: Fury. MAC: Girl About Town. Chanel: Orchidee.

Estee Lauder: Venetian Rose, Rich Rose, Rich Red.

Christian Dior: Cherry, Red Icon.
